INTERNSHIPS
MissRepresentation.org is currently recruiting Summer Interns.
Our internship opportunities give students real world hands-on experience, networking opportunities and exposure to a variety of industries including filmmaking, government, business, and non-profits. Internships are geared towards college and gradate students or recent college graduates. Qualified junior/senior high school students are welcome to apply. Interns must have excellent skills in Microsoft Office, Internet, Macintosh computers. Interns will be asked to work on their own computer and be willing to periodically work remotely. Internships are unpaid. However, we will work with schools for academic credit.
Office hours: Monday through Friday, 9:30am-6:00pm.
Location: Our offices are located in the Public Health Service District on Belles St. in the Presidio in San Francisco, CA.

Be a Rep Coordinator
Position Overview: Support day-to-day management of our Be a Rep virtual intern program. Write mass communications and respond to emails from Social Action Representatives around the world. Organize and manage the Rep database. Create and maintain systems of communication with local Rep leaders. Design and distribute meeting guides for monthly Rep meetings. Manage Be a Rep social media outlets such as Twitter and Tumblr. Tracking actions and successes of Rep groups.
Skills and Qualifications: Strong communication, writing and editing skills; solid experience using social media including strong familiarity with Twitter, Google+; ability to work independently; experience with community organizing and/or email marketing a plus.
Programs Intern
Position Overview: Support ongoing programmatic work for the social action campaign, including the design of a new initiative to engage and activate students in concrete organizing and outreach strategies. Activities include: Research and analyze similar national efforts; support curriculum design; draft a plan for recruiting and retaining activists; draft a roll out plan. In addition, provide administrative support around planning and executing Miss Representation town halls and salons.
Skills and Qualifications: Strong writing and research skills; attention to details; ability to work independently; experience with adult education and community organizing is a plus.
PR/Marketing and Communications Intern
Position Overview: Support Campaign Director in compiling media lists, drafting press releases and managing press requests and follow-up. Regularly provide support with drafting and editing external communications.
Skills and Qualifications: Strong research, writing and editing skills; attention to details; must have excellent skills in Microsoft Office, Internet, Macintosh computers; experience working with press is preferred.
Public Policy Intern
Position Overview: Maintain and update our new policy take action section of our website. Research state and federal policies that impact women and girls and are aligned with MissRepresentation.org. Identify and explore partnerships with aligned organizations that are tracking legislation and using online organizing strategies to engage citizens in policy change. Support ongoing maintenance of Elect 2012 Take Action campaign and draft e-alerts for deepening engagement of campaign followers.
Skills and Qualifications: Strong research and writing skills; attention to detail; ability to work independently with minor supervision; prior knowledge of the state and national legislative process is a plus; community organizing experience is a plus.
Education Intern
Position Overview: Support evaluation effort of Miss Representation’s education curriculum. Analyze survey data and interview teachers who used the curriculum. Based on survey data and interview data, support any curriculum updates. Design and execute a strategy for creating a virtual space for educators to tap into additional MissRepresentation.org resources and connect with other teachers using the curriculum. Draft a marketing and outreach plan to deepen the involvement of educators.
Skills and Qualifications: Strong analytical and qualitative research skills; solid written and oral communications skills; ability to work independently with minor supervision; and, prior experience working in the education arena and designing education curriculum is a plus.
Sales Research Intern
Position Overview: Support outreach efforts for MissRepresentation.org’s distribution team. Conduct background research on organizations to target for monthly outreach campaigns. Compile and organize outreach data and work closely with Sales Associate to pitch public screening options.
Skills and Qualification: Strong online research skills; highly organized; ability to work independently with minor supervision; and, excellent time-management and communication skills.
Social Media and Communications Intern
Position Overview: Support day-to-day management of all MissRepresentation.org social media networks and blogs. Activities include: researching articles to share with our various followers, compiling posts/tweets, managing blog comments and brainstorming overall social media strategies.
Skills and Qualifications: Strong communication, research, writing and editing skills; must have experience using social media – specifically Facebook, Twitter and Tumblr; ability to work independently; experience with WordPress and HTML a plus.
